How often do we under-represent the manliness of God? Do we make Him a mousey character like the cowardly magician Odo in Ivanhoe, who uses spells and purple eggs to cast his "spells" from a distance? Or do we see Him as He truly is, a manly, awe-inspiring WARRIOR! He is my El Qanna, my Jealous Lover who is inspired to holy wrath at the appearance of a distraction or another love in my life.
"The Lord goes out like a mighty man, like a man of war he stirs up his zeal; he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes." Isaiah 42:13, ESV
"But the LORD is with me as a dread warrior; therefore my persecutors will stumble; they will not overcome me. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten." Jeremiah 20:11
